Deciding
Is ABA right for my child?
We are an ABA clinic, so we have an obvious interest in you saying yes. Here is our honest attempt at helping you decide anyway.
Signs it will probably help
- Your child wants something and has no way to ask, so they scream, push, or leave.
- One daily routine (sleep, eating, dressing, the bathroom) has become impossible.
- Your child hurts themselves or someone else, and you cannot work out why it happens.
- They learn something with one person and then will not do it with anyone else.
When we would say no
There are families we tell that ABA is not what they need right now.
- If the main issue is speech and nothing else, a speech therapist may be the right first step.
- If the main issue is sensory (noise, textures, clothing) occupational therapy may get further, faster.
- If what you want is for your child to "seem normal", we are not the right clinic. We do not work on that goal.
- If your family is in crisis right now (housing, safety, health) that comes first, and we can help you find who to call.

Questions you should ask us
- Can I see the plan and remove goals I do not like?
- How will I know if it is working, and when?
- What do you do if my child signals they are done?
- Who will be in my house, and what training do they have?
- How many hours do you recommend, and what is that number based on?
